Christy Scott Stephens, a native of Dorchester County with family in Dorchester, Orangeburg and Colleton counties, returned to the Lowcountry to practice with the firm in 1991 and resides in upper Dorchester County. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Charleston Southern University and the University of South Carolina School of  Law, Mrs. Stephens, in addition to her work in insurance defense, has developed the firm’s governmental defense litigation area with a focus on civil rights and complex  litigation.

Her successful record in this demanding arena combined with courtroom experience in general personal injury defense makes Mrs. Stephens a valuable trial attorney. Her practice is divided equally in the state and federal court systems. She  frequently is involved in complex arbitrations, motions practice, and South Carolina Supreme Court and Fourth Circuit appellate proceedings. Mrs. Stephens has lectured upon issues pertaining to civil rights defense and has provided training seminars to  law enforcement personnel.
